ASIPP has submitted a proposal to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposing the creation of an Independent Physician Payment Modifier under Medicare.
The proposal is intended to help preserve independent physician practices by establishing a modifier that would identify qualifying independent physicians and provide a 10% payment adjustment for eligible physician services, while maintaining budget neutrality and protecting existing facility payments.
