Proactive Auditing

As individuals we have undergone many changes in our day-to-day life in 2020. Changes are also coming to our professional lives. In fiscal year 2019, the federal government obtained over $2.5 billion from healthcare providers in connection with the federal False Claims Act (FCA). The FCA, which has its origins in the Civil War, has been described the government’s number one fraud fighting tool, and has led to multi-billion dollar annual recoveries each year for the last decade.
 
Although 2020 was plagued by the COVID pandemic, which certainly affected government enforcement priorities, the FCA remained a powerful weapon in the government’s enforcement arsenal even during the COVID pandemic. Although the 2020 statistics have not released, stakeholders expect another multi-billion dollar year for FCA recoveries.
