4/11/2005	ASIPP Chairman of the Board on MCAC ASIPP Chairman of the Board, Laxmaiah Manchikanti, M.D., of Paducah, KY, has been selected to serve a two-year term as a Patient Advocate on the federal Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee (MCAC). He is the only interventional pain physician among 100 members on the committee. The MCAC advises the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on whether specific medical items and services are reasonable and necessary under Medicare law. The committee accomplishes this through careful review and discussion of specific clinical and scientific issues in an open and public forum.
